Dear friends in Christ,
The Cooperative United Methodist Churches consisting of Drew United Methodist Church, Lake Mahopac United Methodist Church, Mount Hope United Methodist Church and Purdys United Methodist Church are pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Tiernan-Bindler as Pastor of Drew UMC and lead pastor of the 4UMchurches cooperative, commencing on the first Sunday in July.
Pastor Tiernan-Bindler is a lifelong United Methodist whose family has belonged to the same church for six generations. She attended the New Seminary in Manhattan and completed that school's two year study in comparative religion and interfaith studies in 2002. She graduated from Drew Theological Seminary in 2010. She has gone on to complete two years of post-graduate work in spiritual formation at Drew. She is currently in a program of training in spiritual direction at Linwood Spiritual Center, and will be appointed as Elder at this year's Annual Conference.
Pastor Jenn has had diverse ministry experiences in hospice, mental health and emergency service chaplaincy. She has taught at the Fishkill Correctional Facility in a college level program. She has created and taught all levels of Christian and religious education programs to all age groups and in diverse populations.
Pastor Jenn's leadership style is cooperative and representative of the strength of her faith. She expressed excitement at the opportunity to work closely with our laity leadership in the future.
We ask that you hold our Pastors, our Cooperative UMCs, and the Red Hook UMC in prayer during this exciting but transitional time.
We look forward to you sharing in our journey with our new leadership this July!
